Frequently asked questions
All breeds are welcome at Honeycrest. We have a separate building for cats and can even take small pets like rabbits.
Your pet is welcome to bring their own toys, treats, and blankets but no pillows or stuffed items. We will provide clean rugs for each run. Your will need to bring proof of vaccinations (copy of record, receipts, etc) on each visit and they need to be on flea control (e.g. NEXGUARD). We want our dog-guests to have current shots for Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, Leptospirosis, and Kennel Cough (aka Bordetella). We want our cat-guests to have current shots for Rabies, Feline Lukemia and Feline Distemper.

We feed high quality Purina brand food to all our guests, but if your pet wants to bring their own food we will serve it at no extra charge. We also have continuous flow water bowls so your pet always has fresh water.
We feed dogs once per day at 10:00 to 11:00 AM after customer traffic is finished. This allows them to eat and then rest after the excitement of pet drop off/pick up hours. Feeding a second time after evening drop off/pick up often means the dog won’t eliminate before the final clean-up at 8:00 PM and, as they often aren’t hungry for an evening feed, the food is left in the bowl and has to be discarded. Lastly, in summer’s hot temperatures, we want to avoid food sitting in the bowls and spoiling.
Puppies are fed twice a day as well as dogs with specific medical or dietary needs (for example, needing to eat with medication). Just let us know when you register or when you drop off your dog if special feedings are needed.
Smaller pets from the same family can be double bunked (sharing the same run), just let us know if they like to stay together when your make your reservation.
The limestone acts as a natural disinfectant/deodorant and does not bounce sound like concrete. This creates a cleaner and quieter environment for our guests as well as being easier on your pet’s foot pads and joints. Each kennel has a ventilation pad covered with a fuzzy bath rug. It helps them dry if they go outdoors in the rain and allows air to move under them when hot.
We can administer medicines for an additional cost of $5/day. Just note your pet’s needs on the registration form.
We do offer dog walking for an additional $5 per day.
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards with a 3% processing fee.
Most of the time your pet will simply be thrilled to see you. There are some effects of staying in the kennel that you might want to look for. Your dog may be hoarse from barking more than usual. This isn’t kennel cough (bordatella) which all animals are vaccinated for before staying at Honeycrest and should subside in a few days.
Dogs can sometimes get “happy tail” which is scrapes to the tail from wagging against the fencing. Our team treats this when they see it and it should clear up in the first week.
Finally, your pet has probably been very excited in a new environment and, just like you feel after a vacation, they might be tired and spend a few days resting.
